Today we hear again from the Gospel of Matthew and how the Lord tells us his yoke is easy and his burden light. The passage today reminds me of the fifth station of the cross when Simon Of Cyrene is pressed in carrying the cross for Jesus. Many times in our lives we can feel like Jesus overwhelmed by the crosses we carry but the Lord’s promise to us today is that his yoke is easy. The Lord can be like Simon for us and help us carry our cross, and like strong oxen helping weak young oxen, the Lord does all the work while we just sit there and stay with him.
