Today we celebrate the great feast of the Exultation of the Holy Cross. It is actually one of my favorite feasts of the year. I believe it was the first time I was scheduled to serve at St. Joseph Seminary. I was assigned as thurifer, and I was really nervous. So much so that I remember the chains were shaking so much they were making noise. In all seriousness, today’s feast remembers that this cross, the cross used to bring about the most brutal death known to man, became the means of our salvation. Now we exult that brutal execution tool and show it as a sign of our salvation.
