St. Frances Xavier Cabrini the First American Saint

This coming Tuesday we celebrate the memorial of St. Frances Cabrini, she is the founder of Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. She was born in Italy but came to the United States in the late 19th century and did ministry throughout the country. She eventually became a naturalized citizen of the USA, and she spent some time in New Orleans, she set up an orphanage in New Orleans which eventually became Cabrini High School, that is still open and active today. Still helping with the school are the sisters of her religious order. May she pray for our country and especially the state of Louisiana, may we follow her example in reaching out to the poor and the immigrants in our midsts.
